The Dr. M S Swaminathan Herbal/Kitchen Garden, now thriving at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Belagavi Cantt, stands as a vibrant testament to our commitment to sustainable living and biodiversity conservation. This green oasis not only enriches our school’s ambiance but also serves as an invaluable educational resource, nurturing students’ understanding of herbalism, gardening, and environmental stewardship. Through hands-on cultivation and exploration, the garden inspires a deeper connection with nature and Dr. Swaminathan’s legacy of promoting agricultural diversity and healthy living.
Repurposing used paint buckets into green and red dustbins brings both functionality and eco-friendliness to waste management. These colorful bins not only add a pop of color to the surroundings but also serve as a visual reminder to separate recyclables from non-recyclables. By upcycling materials, we contribute to a greener environment while promoting responsible waste disposal practices.
Members of Eco club, PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No2, Belagavi cantt installed Vermi compost ring in side Dr. M S Swaminathan Herbal/Kitchen garden. A cement ring is placed in the garden at one corner. Gravel and sand are placed inside. Children collected dried leaves from the school campus and added it. This is followed by the addition of jaggery solution. After this cow dung slurry is mixed. Again, dried leaves are put inside the ring. Finally, earth worms are purchased and used for making vermicompost.
