SCIENCE CIRCLE ACTIVITIES
The Science Circle was set up at our school, PM SHRI KV No.2 Belagavi Cantt. to promote inquiry based scientific learning among the students of various classes of the school by laying special emphasis on the hands on activity method. Edgar Dale’s Cone of Experience suggests that the maximum amount of learning can be made possible only when the students are motivated to indulge in learning by doing or by following the hands on experience method. An estimated of about 80 90% of what the students learn is retained when they perform activities related to the topic that they expected to learn. In the same lines, the Science Circle was established in the school to maximize learning of the subject Science among students.
MATHS CIRCLE ACTIVITIES
The Maths Circle aims towards identifying mathematically inclined students at an early stage, honing their aptitude and mathematical skills, and exposing them to the joy of doing mathematics. The Maths Circle involves a group of 25 selected students, who carefully choose mathematical explorations and perform activities in different classes. We received a maths kit through PM SHRI which consists of several mathematical models like 3D objects, nets for 3D figures, coordinate axes, probability kit, angle sum property of different polygons, volume relation between different objects etc, which can be used for developing better understanding of the mathematical concepts. The questions, tasks and explorations in Maths Circles develop students’ mathematical reasoning and expand their mathematical curiosity, at the same time as refining their technical knowledge and skills. Following activities were conducted in classes 6 to 9 for developing the mathematical understanding of the students.
EXPOSURE VISIT
PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Belagavi Cantt., organizes exposure visits, broadening students’ horizons through firsthand experiences beyond the classroom.
